New Toaster!
Hi all been a lurker for a while reading through the site finally decided to get a costume going i'm a 501st member so i just ordered
Georgia Men's 11" Safety Toe Engineer Boots Style 798 NOS, Rare COOPER Vintage Red Leather & Cloth Hockey Gloves Armadillo Thumbs I'll still keep searching for screen accurate ones these will do for now and found a company from china on my skirt mesh.Technically it's called a Kama or in laymans terms a butt cape i know the original is 2mm theirs is 3mm hope it's not a big deal being only 1mm bigger also does anyone have a good sewing pattern for the undersuit a costume place down the road from me makes custom orders this project will be slow but steady as i have other projects going

Re: New Toaster!
Hello and welcome, xanthis02! Glad you joined.
Sounds like you have a great start on your build. 1mm more on the mesh won't matter to anyone but hard core 1:1 nuts here at BYC - and we don't mind! There is no pattern for an under suit "out there" - hopefully one day there will be. The company near you sounds very cool... have you asked them for a ball park estimate on the work - sending them photos or something? (You probably know we have a collection of pictures in our Gallery: http://www.byyourcommand.net/cylongalle ... ?album=301)
Can't wait to see you start your own build thread! Post often and enjoy the site.
...oh... you are in the 501st? TK, or? Any photos you could share? Would love to see them.

Re: New Toaster!
Thanks for the welcome good news my ex-girlfriend who has gotten into costuming again has excellent sewing skills said she be happy to sew the undersuit she asked if those of you who have the screen used suit would you mind making a tracing of the panels of the suit so they can be accurate and what size welting cord i need for the piping also i'm going to ask her to make a pattern when she sews mine so if others want to DIY their suit people will have a pattern to go by to help expand the empire

That I have never done before. Great idea about doing that. A how to video wouldn't be a bad idea either. Give this man a Starbuck cigar.

we 501st members often have pics or vids of suiting up to help new people get an idea of the process as it's said pics are worth a 1000 words

There wouldn't be many major differences on a more 1978 accurate suit of the actual "dressing" part.xanthis02 wrote:thanks for the post i've seen this one but not to offend nash was looking for a more screen accurate replica being put on
But two do come to mind real quick:
- long sleeve "shirt" (top) first then pants (like waders) with suspenders on second
- and screen accurate armor is all taped together (some replica builds fuse them - I did... no desire to mess with tape)
