Does anyone here know where to get the belt buckles these days?

Re: Bridge officers and warrior dress belt
Hello Ship of lights and welcome to BYC!
Hummm... as for the belt - our members who are also over at Blackstar Squadron (http://blackstarsquad.proboards.com/) would be your best bet for that info.
Hope you find one soon and can post up some officer/dress uniform pics. Best of luck.

A little insight on the belt's color. A exacting match of the military belt has never found. The thoughts are a white belt was used dyed blue then given wear and stress marks. It is pretty easy to find the white belts but I have never seen anyone go about stressing a dyed belt yet.

Welcome aboard and good luck on finding a decent Dress Uniform belt buckle.
Nevertheless, I guess this thread would be better placed in the "Classic Battlestar Props and Costumes" category.
Any thoughts?

Is this the canvas belt we're talking?
It's a US Dismounted Pistol Belt, could be white originally but I dare say US OD3 khaki would take blue die quite well.
White ones are post war MP issue.

You are correct about it being a pistol belt, and thanks for the insight about taking dye. Also what war are you speaking of. WW2, Korean or Vietnam.

Sorry, post WWII. during WWII US webbing was a khaki tan, all pretty much made after 1943 are dark green.

Yeah that color is light enough to work, but the process they used to dye it the pigment didn't take very well, but good enough or some type a light barrier was put down before the new color assignment. The coloring had stressed or used finish.

They used to be fairly expensive but a load came over in mint condition from Russia, unused from lend lease. The dye is vegetable based so the canvas sucks in any stray filth, rust oil and stain.

Paradestore.com has the correct web pistol belts with the brass hardware (or rather the modern equivalent).
They have the dress buckles as well but they need some work to be screen accurate. I'll have to dig up some links!
