Hello Eric, and welcome to the board.
How much time were you given to design the Cylon's, and other ships for the Mini Series?
Thanks
Dale

Hey Dale,

The entire process for designs took approximately 2 months. Each of the designs were worked on in parallel and how long it took for each ship was a matter of how many versions we had to do before it was approved.

The quickest turnaround was the Basestar, which required only 2-3 drawings before it was given the green light. However, the Raider, the Centurion and the Galactica were all worked on at various times throughout the whole 2 month period.

Generally each drawing we did took about a day or so to execute.

Have the concept drawing you made that were turned down seen the light of day since they were drawn. Are they posted some place, can you share them.

Some of them were quite ugly and will NEVER see the light of day. They were soaked in gasoline and set alight on a floating barge surrounded by ravenous piranha. Legend has it that anyone who seeks these drawings will meet a horrible fate, so best not to inquire any further and just... forget about it.

However, some of the more acceptable designs that were turned down have made it to print in the magazine, CFQ (Cinefantastique, Dec 2003/Jan 2004 issue). They include some alternate Galacticas and a couple of rejected Cylons.
