Failures of terminology

Post by Hope It Is The Grog » Mon Oct 03, 2016 7:20 am

Thought we might start a list of instances where Galactica characters slip up and use Earth terms instead of colonial ones.
Examples:
  • "... the first peace man has known in a thousand years." - Adar to Adama, "Saga of a Star World"

"Wait a minute!" - Apollo to Adama, "The Magnificent Warriors"

"Cy, you have the mentality of a two-year-old." "A two-year-old what?" - Starbuck and Cyrus, "The Return of Starbuck"

Nice idea!

Here's another one from "The Return of Starbuck":

"Don't you care what it is you've been trying to destroy for a thousand years?" - Starbuck to Cyrus
"There can be no survivors. So long as one human remains alive the Alliance is threatened."

Good one! (Could it be that Starbuck picked up some foreign words during his time on Paradeen and Terra?)
"I may move to the command chamber. I'm sure they're talking about me while I'm in here."

Possibly, good thinking!
"There can be no survivors. So long as one human remains alive the Alliance is threatened."

They never had time to go back and fix that stuff. It was just moments in time they never corrected since it was a good take, and even in the early days way over budget.

When Apollo and Serena were heading down to Carillon in SoaSW, he didn't recognize the guy wearing a poorly-sized warrior's dress uniform. She responds that he probably hasn't worn it in years.
I may appear unoccupied to you, but at the molecular level, I'm really quite busy.

Makes me wonder, did they use "yahrens" at all in the pilot? I can't remember just now.
