I dislike what's been done to "frak" by the Moore series, making it in essence an exact equivalent of our "F-word." In the original BSG, it was a rather ambiguous exclamation that also substituted for "Crap!"... with which it shared its two middle letters.

Just recalled that Firefly would eventually use Chinese in a very similar way to solve the problem of swear words that Galactica handled years earlier with inventions like "frak," "felgercarb," and "gallmonging snitrad."

Ha! Just heard a term I hadn't noticed before in The Magnificent Warriors, from Boomer right after the energizer is stolen: "You dirty rotten crassidies!"

At least that's what I think he said. :bsglol:

"Felgercarb" is notable for having more spoken variations than any BSG word. If I recall correctly, the writer's guide called it "feldergarb." There are instances where you can hear that, as well as "feldercarb," "felgergarb," and "feldigarb." But the most common form is good old "felgercarb."

Back in ‘78-‘79 we thought “frak” = f u c k. Felgercarb = b u l l s h i t.
