Why I like Battlestar Galactica

Post by Thunderstruck » Tue Oct 20, 2015 6:45 pm

Hello,

Someone pointed out to me in a reply somewhere..how obvious it is..that I really like BSG.

Thought I would jot down a couple of reasons why.Make a post and see what happens.

There are many many reasons...and my reply seems to be a good start.
I have posted many times and in many threads on why I like BSG...
.....but this is a good summation/summary.

May be interesting to see others also..so here are a few of mine.

it is the result of being less stellar than Star Wars..11-12 yrs old..and having season 2 cancelled.

And some of the Scifi aspects..but the story....a Human Holocaust..an Exodus..a Journey to far away and unknown places..and more and what really got me then,, was..they were coming here.

and....asks...Are we a race worth saving?

Addendum:
Some more....

Story of survival and facing the possibility of annihilation and extinction.Story of hope..that we are worthy.
That there may be others who ,like us,,struggling to cope.
That humans may indeed advance enough to explore the heavens.
Are we worthy? ready?
And what will happen if they did arrive here.....this one has been stuck in my mind since season 2 was cancelled.....

Classic good vs evil..only good and evil is Humanity itself.
Adama and Apollo...(tos) being of good nature and character and wisdom,,while another human is opposite(Baltar).
Humanity being what it is and struggling to be what it would like to be.
then you throw in Cylons......man its just a perfect platform to
tell stories that relate in so many aspects to these things.
--Richard Hatch was so right about BSG-- in my opinion.

I spin thoughts and ideas and story lines constantly while making the videos and waiting on renders.

Appreciate any one else's inputs or reasons or even dislikes.

-copy of a recent post reply--it was what came to mind when thinking about it.--

Addendum> In alot of ways, the NuBSG was about many of these things also.It was a fine show for what it was.....
for me...though, the timeline does not make sense,,the logic of it....Cylons being the AI we have come to fear....was created by us,but yet existed with us since before they were created...yada yada etc...
To me,,Cylon's are on outside..alien pressure on top of everything else. The Hammer that crushed the civilization of men....being sold out by a man.
..and the sex thing and God aspects..I never really did understand wtf that was all about.....

A 10GB DL makes for Idle time.
Regards,
Randal R.

What was Richard Hatch right about? Do you have a quote to refer to.

the words are mine..not Mr. Hatch's

No ..sorry..I do not have any quotes..but I can remember him saying things about BSG.
--I have seen some videos of him pitching the BSG story. How he had Miramar on board to continue Galactica..
but could not secure Approval from the Owners of the copyrights.

Just vague recollections of how he thought BSG had so much more potential.
It is a story of course.... of fiction.

He thought it was worth his own money to try and make it happen...I agree....or would have agreed.
I just think it has so many parallels to many Epic tales..which in many ways..is what Star Wars.is.also.
--Princess and the Pirate-KNights of the Round Table-Merlin the Magician-Yeungian Archetypes..etc.

addendum

Battlestar has such a draw on me..and tbh honest..am not sure why....
..but I think,,it possibly may have to do with looking at Humanity in a different perspective
than we do from being a part of that humanity or from within it.
--We are looking at another race of humanity....the pitfalls and triumphs..
and the possibilities...what if.

I am always questioning our own....where our civilization is...where it is heading..where will it lead to....how far will it go..
when will it end....BSG fits into my mind set possibly.

Whenever I think of a short-animation idea...a concept...a funny....most anything..it always seems to fit into the BSG Universe (So to speak)
and at the same time....I seem to draw from it also.
I don't think of SW's or others when I think space adventure. I think of BSG .. and I imagine BSG....:D
