How important is the music?

Post by Hope It Is The Grog » Sat Sep 21, 2013 9:31 pm

To me, it seems that Stu Phillips' music just makes the show. It could have been incredibly cheesy and laughable with the wrong music, but Phillips makes it epic, heroic, and emotional. He always seems to strike the perfect tone.* You can't not be impressed by that score, and those stirring strains are mostly what keep driving me to go back and watch it again and again.

AMEN to that!

Stu rocks the show with his score.

I completely agree with the sentiments that Stu Phillips' score is very instrumental in making BG what it is. The theme tune is one of the very best in the medium.

I can almost say if I had to choose between the show without the music, and the music without the show, I'd choose the latter. Almost.

Alas, I missed out on the four 2-CD sets released, but I have the 25th anniversary CD of Saga of a Star World and 4-CD Stu Phillips Anthology. I could buy the four seperate releases like a shot, but spending hundreds of pounds on those discs is unjustifieable to me.
